On Wednesday, designer Samant Chauhan presented his ‘Winter Rain’ collection at the collaborative Fashion Design Council of India x Lakmé Fashion Week, which included icy metallics and intricate detailing to tell a beautiful yet melancholy story.
This season, Chauhan’s immersive collection created a world of permanent winter inhabited by eleven women in regal gowns. Using delicate Chikankari embellishments, swathes of black, and ethereal silvery hues, the collection showed the beauty to be found in the darker human emotions.
Known for his conceptual collections, this season Chauhan used the runway to create an entire winter landscape with snow, clouds, and leaf-bare trees. The collection was refined and kept a formal air and told his story through beautiful detailing on classic silhouettes of gowns, cocktail dresses, and tailored sets.
