On the first day of the Fashion Design Council of India x Lakmé Fashion Week on Wednesday, brands Rara Avis and Shruti Sancheti displayed colourful takes on femininity for their joint showcase, each showcasing their own take on womenswear.
Rara Avis by Sonal Verma debuted the ‘Hodophilic’ ready-to-wear collection, which started with rainbow stripes on the runway. The collection progressed into metallics and presented its storey through embroidered embellishments showcasing ancient Indian craft techniques, inspired by the rich geography of human emotion. A-line retro-style gowns with gold fringe were among the standout pieces.
Shruti Sancheti showcased her ‘Alchemy’ collection, which included a more traditional perspective on ready-to-wear with delicate Mughal era decorations and handcrafted detailing on dresses and sets. According to Sancheti, the FDCI reported on Facebook when it introduced the collection, the collection was inspired by the wonderful sensation of home and how, even if it feels good to leave, it feels even better to return.
