Megha Rao, an Indian fashion designer, makes history by opening New York Fashion Week.

Megha Rao, a South Asian fashion designer based in the United States, is the first woman to portray the ‘literal’ juxtaposition of east and west by opening New York Fashion Week in sari denim.

In collaboration with the boutique Flying Solo NYC, Megha’s brand holiChic made its runway premiere. holiChic’s NYFW collection includes a mix of accessories and clothing created by Megha herself.

HoliChic has proudly displayed eight key looks from its collection, all of which exude fashion aesthetics and Megha’s credo of “New York meets Mumbai.”

Megha turned to Instagram to offer some behind-the-scenes photos from the runway. “I have no words to convey the feeling of watching this look open today’s show,” she wrote. This east-west visual and literal juxtaposition.”
